Car Rental Company Launches First-Ever Motorcycle-Sharing In S’pore – Rates Start At $0.50/Hr

In a Facebook post on Wednesday (12 September), Singapore vehicle-sharing platform, Tribecar, launched its motorcycle-sharing service.

According to them, they are the first in Singapore to have such a service.

Users can now rent their Class 2B motorcycle the same way they rent a car on Tribecar, from just 50c per hour.

The motorcycles can be used for personal or commercial purposes.

According to this, Tribecar claims they are the “only car-sharing model in Singapore equipped with the private hire insurance and complies with Land Transport Authority regulation”.

That means Tribecar customers can use their vehicles for food delivery jobs or for driving for any ride-hailing companies in Singapore.

The post directed new customers keen to use the motorcycle-sharing service to sign up through this link.

A Mistake In Their Terms & Conditions

Users who clicked on the link were redirected to Tribecar’s Terms & Conditions page for new members of the bike-sharing service.

The Conditions state that customers have to be at least 22 years of age, and be an individual holding an employment pass with at least six months of validity, holding on to a valid International Driving License with a valid credit card.

However, what’s puzzling is the part that said this:

ii. a Singaporean holding a valid Singapore Driving Licence (class 3 or 3A) with a valid debit or credit card.

Motorcycles in Singapore require motorists to have a Class 2B, 2A, or 2 Licenses in order to ride.

I reached out to Tribecar via Facebook to clarify this error but their customer service officer seemed oblivious to it.

Nevertheless, they clarified that customers have to have the right license in order to use their motorcycles.

Motorcycles Not Available “Islandwide” As They Claim

Motorcycles are reported to be available “throughout the island” but are “subjected to availability” according to this.

A comment on Tribecar’s Facebook post also indicates that the motorcycles are only available in select locations.

Their website lists four locations, Choa Chu Kang South View, Pasir Ris Central, Woodlands, and Eunos Crescent.

At the moment, a quick search on their website shows three locations (Eunos Crescent, Pasir Ris Central, and Woodlands) for a 7pm to 8pm slot.

Here are some other things to take note of before you sign up or use the motorcycle-sharing service:
