You might have seen autonomous cleaning robots around at National Gallery Singapore and Jewel Changi Airport.
This is part of a pilot scheme run by local firm LionsBot International, which announced yesterday (July 17) that it will be deploying 300 more of these cleaning robots around Singapore.
It has since deployed robots at Jewel and Inland Revenue Authority of Singapore (IRA).
The remaining robots will be steadily rolled out until March next year as part of a deal between LionsBot and six cleaning partners.
LionsBot has developed 13 different models that can scrub, mop, vacuum, sweep, shine as well as transport cleaning equipment for both indoors and outdoors usage.
Beyond cleaning, these robots can also sing, rap and speak the four official languages, as well as Singlish!
The public can interact with the robots by asking questions when they scan a QR code on the robot.
These robots can also wink at passersby and make jokes if the latter gets in the way of their cleaning duties.
A S$5 Million Project
LionsBot has invested $5 million in the project, including government grants.
Senior Minister of State for Trade and Industry Koh Poh Koon has expressed his support towards this robotics initiative.
As businesses across the cleaning industry adopt new technologies, equipping workers with the right skillset is critical. Cleaning robots can help to free up time for higher value-added duties such as supervision, operation and maintenance of the robots.

LionsBot co-founder Dylan Ng said that these autonomous cleaning robots were developed to resolve the labour shortage in the cleaning industry in Singapore.
LionsBot cleaning robots are built on the challenges that cleaners face. We also looked at existing market solutions and worked on developing technology that was unique, and yet, solved industry specific issues.

According to LionsBot, it is the first company in the world to offer cleaning robots on a subscription model.
Companies who are hard-pressed for cleaners can simply rent their robots from $1,350 to $2,150 a month.
