Huawei Says Sorry, Gives Out $100 Vouchers To “Several Thousand” Affected Customers

Three weeks ago Huawei issued an apology for their National Day promotion, where an underestimation for the demand of their $54 Y6 Pro Smartphone led to mass hysteria around the island.

In their statement, the Chinese tech giant also said that they would be offering a $100 voucher to 5,000 individuals who had (somehow) managed to register their information during the fracas, and would be contacting them from the second week of August.

Well, it’s the third week of August, and it turns out that Huawei has been honouring their promise after all — Vulcan Post understands that the company has already reached out to several thousand customers, and are planning to contact the rest within the next few days.

As is the case with most vouchers, there are some terms and conditions to take note of — the voucher must be redeemed within 7 days of receiving it, and can only be redeemed at the following Huawei experience stores:

– Tampines Mall
– NEX
– Bugis Junction
– 313 Somerset
– Vivocity
– Northpoint
– Lot 1
– JEM
– Westgate
– Jurong Point

Those who registered with Courts and Challenger, on the other hand, have a different set of T&C’s to adhere to. Courts customers have until 31st of August to make their purchases, and can only be made at their flagship store in Tampines.

We’ve said it before, but it’s probably worth mentioning again that the $100 voucher doesn’t just apply to the Y6 Pro, but the Nova 3i, P30 Pro, P30, P30 Lite, Mate 20 X, Mate 20 Pro, and Mate 20 as well.

If you do decide to use the voucher on the Y6 Pro, however, the price comes out to $48, which is cheaper than the original promotional price.

And if you weren’t lucky enough to receive a voucher, a small consolation is that Huawei has lowered the price of the Y6 Pro from $198 to $148. Granted, it might not be as cheap as the National Day price, but it’s probably still the cheapest decent phone you can get to satiate your grandparents who now have a smartphone itch.
