Today, Grab announced that it has launched the pilot of its GrabExpress Car programme.
This pilot will allow up to 10% of Grab drivers-partners to provide on-demand parcel and courier delivery services via GrabExpress during off-peak commute hours.
Both private-hire driver-partners and taxi driver-partners with Grab can now choose to opt into the programme. Grab driver-partners will also be able to accept GrabExpress jobs from their driver app between 10am and 4pm daily.
Initially launched at the end of 2018, GrabExpress has seen four times growth in delivery bookings.
With this pilot, users will be able to arrange a parcel delivery for small and bulky items, and will be able to track their items.
Users will also enjoy parcel insurance, and can book multiple deliveries at one time.
Details of the service, and how much GrabExpress costs can be seen below:
Said Yee Wee Tang, Country Head of Grab Singapore: : “We are excited about this pilot as we are always looking for new opportunities for our driver-partners to earn more, regardless of the time of the day.”
“We appreciate the support from the Land Transport Authority, Digital Industry Singapore, National Private Hire Vehicle Association and National Taxi Association, without which the pilot would not be possible.”
Added Mr Ang Hin Kee, Advisor of National Private Hire Vehicles Association (NPHVA): “This piece of good news is a welcomed one as this was what the association had called for – to allow private hire drivers to perform other forms of delivery services to maximise the vehicle’s usage while on the road. This reduces empty cruising while waiting for jobs to come in, especially during the off-peak periods.”
When GrabExpress beta was launched last October, only smaller parcels could be delivered because it was only making use of GrabFood’s motorcycle fleet for fulfillment of deliveries.
