Active S’poreans Can Now Get Insured For Just $9/Year With GE, ActiveSG Partnership

Health is wealth.

Singaporeans who pursue a healthy lifestyle by keeping fit through the national ActiveSG fitness platform can soon benefit from a new affordable personal accident protection plan.

Great Eastern and ActiveSG jointly announced the launch of Active Care today (9 September 2019), touted the “first in-app digital insurance plan for active lifestyles”.

Underwritten by Great Eastern, the plan includes protection of up to $20,000 for accidental death or permanent total disablement, and up to $200 in medical expense reimbursements.

The coverage will cost a premium of only $9 per year.

Active Care will be exclusively available to ActiveSG members, which counts for more than 1.6 million people, from 9 September.

They will be able to purchase the plan directly through the ActiveSG app without having to go for any medical examinations.

In a press release, the two organisations said Active Care’s coverage is “not limited to sporting activities”, and all users from ages three to 70 can receive 24/7 protection.

Members will earn a $2 rebate directly credited to their ActiveSG Wallet with every purchase of the new protection plan. Until 31 October 2019, the rebate will be raised to $4 for the first 10,000 members.

On top of that, every plan purchased will also contribute a $1 donation to the One Team Singapore Fund to support Team Singapore athletes in their training and competitions.

Lai Chin Kwang, Chief of ActiveSG, Sport Singapore said, “ActiveSG believes in offering individuals, families and communities ample opportunities to experience and share the joy of living better through sport.”

“By making it conveniently accessible via the ActiveSG app, Active Care is designed to ensure all Singaporeans can pursue and enjoy active and healthy lifestyles,” added Great Eastern Managing Director for Digital for Business Ryan Cheong.
