ComfortDelGro Partners NETS So You Can Now Pay For Rides In-App With Your Bank Card

Getting a ride these days is all about convenience.

That’s why traditional taxi companies like ComfortDelGro (CDG) have been innovating to offer taxi booking services to keep up with the popularity of ride-hailing apps in Singapore.

CDG has been stepping up their game with new initiatives like a chatbot that helps passengers recover items they may have left behind in a CDG cab.

Along with services like this, they also want to make payment easier for users who are shifting to online methods.

Today (31 October 2019), CDG and NETS announced the launch of a new in-app payment method called NETS Click, which will allow users to pay for both taxi booking and street hail rides via the ComfortDelGro Taxi Booking App.

It will be available to DBS, UOB and OCBC users.

To use NETS Click, passengers can add their NETS bank card to the CDG Taxi Booking App and authenticate their identity with a one-time password sent to their registered mobile number.

Subsequently, NETS Click can be selected as the in-app payment option.

For street hail trips, passengers would need to select the ‘Pay for Street Hail’ option, then scan the QR Code on the taxi’s cashless payment terminal, or key in the taxi number to pair the trip to NETS Click and complete their payment.

From 1 November 2019 to 30 April 2020, passengers who use NETS Click to pay for their trips in the CDG Taxi Booking App can enjoy $3 off their fares with the promo code “NETSCLICK”.

According to NETS and CDG’s press release, the partnership marks the first time consumers can store NETS payment details on file to use their NETS bank card as an in-app payment mode.

Said Mr Ang Wei Neng, CEO of CDG Taxi: “We were the first taxi operator to introduce NETS as a cashless payment mode on board our taxis in November 2006. Today, we are also the first taxi operator to offer NETS Click on a booking app.”

“With NETS Click, our cabbies and passengers do not need to key in the pin number, saving them time and effort,” he added.

NETS also plans to partner more online merchants soon to integrate NETS Click into their in-app payment processes.

“In time to come, consumers will be able to choose NETS Click and enjoy added convenience when they shop on their mobile devices,” said NETS Group CEO Jeffrey Goh.
