COVID-19: 30 SIA Cabin Crew To Be Redeployed As Care Ambassadors At Khoo Teck Puat Hospital

National carrier Singapore Airlines has assigned 30 of their cabin crew to work as “care ambassadors” at Khoo Teck Puat Hospital.

This is in a bid to redeploy staff as the Covid-19 outbreak has seen many flights being cancelled.

These 30 cabin crew members are the first batch to kickstart the redeployment from serving passengers on a flight to caring for patients at the public hospital in Yishun.

The “care ambassadors” have underwent medical screening, vaccinations and a hospital orientation on Tuesday (April 7) before coming onboard.

They will be assigned to low-risk wards and support hospital care teams after undergoing training to carry out basic care-giving procedures, nutritional care as well as patient service management for patients.

They will also be trained in safety and infection control measures. While they will not have direct contact with Covid-19 patients, they will still be required to wear a mask like nurses and doctors.

Starting from next week for five days a week, they will start working the 9-hour day and night shifts at the hospital.
