Jollibee has opened its first cloud kitchen in Singapore. The opening will expand the geographical reach of its delivery arm.
The new cloud kitchen offers the full range of Jollibee’s menu. That includes Chickenjoy meals and Jolly Spaghetti. Chickenjoy Bundles will also be available, combining bestsellers into group sizes.
Situated in the Smart City Kitchens at Tampines, the Jollibee cloud kitchen will be open from 10am to 8pm daily.
Jollibee is currently available on GrabFood, Foodpanda and Deliveroo platforms.
According to a company spokesperson, Jollibee Singapore’s food delivery sales have increased from 10 per cent in 2019 to 45 per cent of total revenue in 2020.
The growth in food delivery has expanded as consumers stay at home under circuit breaker orders.
Jollinee’s Tampines kitchen also has a system that allows riders to pick up food deliveries without making human contact, reducing the risk of Covid-19 infection.
Jollibee’s outlets will remain open for dine-in islandwide. Jollibee currently has 11 branches located around Singapore, with lines regularly forming outside the fastfood chain at outlets like Lucky Plaza.
Cloud Kitchen Trend Is Gaining Steam – Will More Fast Food Chains Follow?
Smart City Kitchens, the cloud kitchen partnering with Jollibee, are part of a latent cloud kitchen movement.
The spaces F&Bs will use are optimised entirely for delivery. F&Bs can launch their businesses with lower upfront investments and real estate costs.
Smart City Kitchens also provides participating F&Bs with a new pool of customers, lower operating costs and a data analytics and tracking system.
Other startups like Tiffinlabs have jumped aboard the cloud kitchen hype train. Owned by billionaire Kishin R. K., this cloud kitchen plans to launch 1,000 such kitchen worldwide.
Social enterprises like The Social Kitchen have also set up cloud kitchens aimed at saving an ailing F&B industry.
Meanwhile, food delivery firms like GrabFood and Deliveroo have also opened their own cloud kitchens, acting as landlords that lease virtual spaces to participating F&Bs.
Jollibee has already opened two cloud kitchens in the United Arab Emirates and the United States, both of which were well-received.
Cloud kitchens are part of the Phillippine fast food brand’s overall transformation strategy.
““As cloud kitchens roll out, we will be able to reach more consumers and fulfill more orders,” says Ernesto Tanmantiong, Jollibee’s CEO.
“The Jollibee Group is able to expand more quickly and cost-efficiently through this innovative store model while maintaining the same safety and quality standards of our food.”
