Twitter S’pore hiring 50 engineers by end-2023, offers competitive salaries amid tech demand

Twitter is doubling its engineers in Singapore to more than 100 people by the end of 2023.

There are currently 50 engineers, data scientists, product managers and researchers at its Asia Pacific (APAC) engineering centre here.

The social media giant said that the Singapore hires will be based here and work on global initiatives. The team will develop new product experiences, create personalised content for users, and support the speed and reliability of the platform, among other initiatives.

Twitter’s APAC engineering centre director Silvanus Lee said that the compensation and benefits will be competitive across all roles to attract world-class talent.

Tech talent demand

This hiring is on the back of many other tech firms hiring in 2022 as more beef up on their digital capabilities to service customers. A recent report from Robert Walters Salary Survey 2022 revealed that salaries for those in tech will rise significantly due to talent shortage.

Twitter Singapore’s expansion is in partnership with Digital Industry Singapore (which is a joint office of the Economic Development Board), Enterprise Singapore, and the Infocomm Media Development Authority.

Twitter’s engineering hub is located in the CapitaGreen building at Shenton Way, where the firm’s APAC headquarters are.

Set up two years ago, the APAC engineering hub aims to improve service availability and reliability for users.

In 2015, Twitter set up its APAC headquarters here.
