Remember the times when our mums tried shielding us from ‘adult’ things by covering our eyes?

While watching highly acclaimed R- rated film The Master (2012) with her son on TV, this mom did what most mothers would have done when confronted with scenes of female nudity with their children – shield them from the offending scene. This mom did just that. With a towel to the television, no less.

Except that her son, Redditor DantesInfernape, is 22. And openly gay.

The son snapped a picture of the almost comical scene, and posted it on Reddit. And netizens took that as fodder to do what they do best- turn it into a meme. And Towel Mom was born.

Since then, with the magic of Photoshop, Towel Mom has been appearing all over the Internet shielding netizens from everything between Kim K’s glutes to political controversies. View some of them here and here.

Because we couldn’t get enough of Towel Mom, we decided to fan the flames with our very own spin of Towel Mom: The Singapore Edition. In a conservative society like ours, Towel Mom might just be here to stay.
