Messaging App LINE Releases New Alumni Feature That May Rekindle Old Sparks!

Popular messaging app LINE is onto something cheeky: have you always wanted to reconnect with that guy/girl whom you had admired in junior college or university? Or would you like to find your long lost best friend from primary school?

Well, here’s your chance! The mobile messaging app has just introduced a new free in-app feature called “LINE Alumni” for both Android and iPhone devices in Singapore. Designed to enable LINE users to re-connect with their ex-classmates and other alumni from their previous schools, LINE Alumni hopes to change the face of school reunions by offering a database of LINE users registered under their alma mater easily.

How do you use it? Simply launch the app and then head over to the “More” feature. You should be able to notice the “Find Alumni” feature where you can easily add your education information and start connecting with your school alumni.

“With the launch of LINE Alumni, we hope to provide our Singaporean users with the ability to search for and bond with their ex-classmates and other alumni through LINE, which is our part of our commitment to help bring people closer together”, said Mr. Simeon Cho, General Manager of LINE Business Development Division, LINE PLUS Corporation.

While the intention of the feature is a good one, we did a quick check on the feature and found out that there might only be a small number of users who are currently using the feature. Therefore we were unable to find many alumni of our alma mater through the feature.

Perhaps that’s why to encourage the use of this new feature, LINE is offering an exclusive promotion this week to Singaporean users where all you need to do is to recommend LINE Alumni to 10 friends and receive a LINE Paid Sticker Set.

Anyone else have any luck looking for old friends via LINE Alumni?
