Have you seen your diabetic grandparent crave for a slice of chocolate cake, only to realise it’s sugar-laden? Or, perhaps, you love burgers but don’t know how to make one that suits your vegan lifestyle?

Well, look no further, because Prescribe Nutrition aims to do just that! The healthy recipe website wants to take it to the next level in equipping you with recipes of delicious meals that meet your dietary choices and restrictions for better holistic health.

Healthy Living, Levelled Up

Prescribe Nutrition is a recipe site, but it also goes a step further by providing recipes that meet the criteria of  “clean, healthy and whole foods”. Their Indiegogo campaign aims to elevate this recipe site by creating a “dynamic recipe platform for those who seek clean, healthy and whole foods, and provide recipes to those who suffer from food allergies, sensitivities and/or chronic health conditions”. This means that you won’t have to worry if you’re lactose intolerant or diabetic because the site also features recipes catering to all allergies and health conditions.

The site provides an ingredient calculator which allows you to compare your food inventory at home with your customised grocery list from Prescribe Nutrition. You can even customise these recipes based on the leftovers you have in your fridge. This way, you’ll know what ingredients and how many of each item you’ll need to whip up your next meal. If you suspect that something in your diet is affecting your health, the Food Sensitivity Tracker will help identify the foods that are causing you distress.

Crowdfunding Distress

As of August 25th, the campaign on Indiegogo has raised close to US$17, 250 of its US$40, 000 goal. That’s less than half the amount of donations they need, and with only close to a month left, they would need more funders to join the ranks of the 140 who have contributed to the campaign. With more funding, the team would be able to launch social sharing and networking services, along with cooking tutorials and trending recipes, on their site.

Upon hitting the US$30,000 mark, Prescribe Nutrition has also pledged to donate 10% of the funds raised beyond that mark to a not-for-profit organisation, With Purpose, in a bid to help further research on paediatric cancer. If you support the Prescribe Nutrition campaign, you could say you’re doing your part for a good cause as well! Other more tangible rewards and perks for supporting the campaign range from Prescribe Nutrition reusable grocery bags and e-cookbooks to a week’s stay in Arizona.

If you’re worried about reliability, rest assured that the people behind Prescribe Nutrition, Katie Jasper and Megan Morris, are functional nutritionists. The US-based duo is topped off with “Prescribe Nutrition’s resident mom”, Anna Decker, whose newfound aim is to raise a healthy family after her baby suffered from food allergies. With 4, 750 likes on their Facebook page, you can be more confident about supporting the campaign.

Prescribe Nutrition also has cookbooks and other programs such as a nutritions course for kids, called Kids Rule. There’s plenty of ‘Healthy’ to go around. The folks at Prescribe Nutrition believe that eating should be an enjoyable experience while addressing health needs and concerns. As they said on their Indiegogo page, “We love food and we love feeling good, and we believe the two shouldn’t be mutually exclusive.” We think so, too!

With less than a month left, we’re not sure if they’ll meet their target. But let’s wait and see what other tricks and tips these ladies have to dish out!
