The world, including Singapore, may have fallen in love with Ylvis’ the Fox.

The Philippines on the other hand have maintained its love for Psy.

For the second year in a row, it was Psy who had the most viewed video in the Philippines with his disturbingly infectious “Gentleman”. It is also the most viewed video in the world.

Other than Psy, 2 other foreign artists are in the top 10 most viewed YouTube video in the Philippines this year. These include Miley Cyrus’ controversial “Wrecking Ball”. The slightly NSFW video must be in the top list for the wrong reasons, and in the Philippines that might also be the case. The video spun parodies after parodies.

Another foreign artist in the list is Katy Perry’s “Roar”. The video is popular in the Philippines, not just because it was an infectious single, but because of a different reason. If you watch the video below, an important Philippine landmark can be seen at 2:28 and 2:39.

Yes. The Taal Volcano – the country’s (perhaps the world’s) smallest active volcano. The inclusion of the volcano was one of the most talked about topics in this side of social media last September. Yahoo! OMG even tried comparing it with a real photo just to be sure.

Here are the top ten most watched music videos on YouTube in the Philippines in 2013.

  2. Katy Perry – Roar (Official)
  3. Basilio – Lord Patawad
  4. P!nk – Just Give Me A Reason ft. Nate Ruess
  5. Miley Cyrus – Wrecking Ball
  6. Jireh Lim – Magkabilang Mundo
  7. Dove Real Beauty Sketches
  8. Jireh Lim – Buko (Official Music Video)
  9. Daniel Padilla – Nasa Iyo na ang Lahat (Official)
  10. PSY ?? – GENTLEMAN ??? Waveya ???? cover dance

Local artists Jireh Lim has 2 music videos on the list. I can’t complain about it being in the top 10. I heard his songs on the radio everyday when going to and from work, so this must be valid.

The list in 2012 is radically different, where there were more local artists. In 2014, who knows, maybe Psy will make another infectious single that will rock the world.
