But if you were trying to buy a car then I’m sure you were disappointed.

That’s because many major car showrooms were already overbooked and customers who wished to purchase tax-free cars got turned down. However, customers can rejoice as Perodua and Honda have confirmed that most of their models will see a decrease in price compared to the GST period by up to 3%.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column_inner][/vc_row_inner][vc_row_inner][vc_column_inner width=”1/2″][vc_speech_box author_id=”774″ author_image=”645478″ author_content=”Yay for car enthusiasts but my broke-ass self is more interested to see if there will be any assholes in the F&B industry who’ll take advantage of this new SST system, cause we all know there will be.”][/vc_column_inner][vc_column_inner width=”1/2″][vc_speech_box author_id=”827″ author_image=”645476″ author_content=”I expected this to happen—as is always the case with taxation changes. A price decrease is always great, but I still await the day the average Malaysian can truly buy a car without going half broke.”][/vc_column_inner][/vc_row_inner][vc_row_inner][vc_column_inner width=”1/2″][vc_speech_box author_id=”846″ author_image=”645475″ author_content=”Although I was afraid that car prices would go up, seeing these prices go down tells me we shouldn’t look at SST in a negative way but embrace it as we build up our nation again.” href=”“https://cilisos.my/our-gomen-has-epic-plans-for-rfid-tags-and-its-gonna-be-for-more-than-just-tolls/“” target=”“_blank“”][/vc_column_inner][vc_column_inner width=”1/2″][vc_speech_box author_id=”777″ author_image=”645474″ author_content=”So much for doomsday predictions about how SST is going to cost us more. I’m still waiting for the viral complaint posts of people being charged extra at F&Bs. Wait for the screaming then.”][/vc_column_inner][/vc_row_inner][vc_row_inner][vc_column_inner][vc_empty_space][/vc_column_inner][/vc_row_inner][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row el_class=”article-content-boxed”][vc_column][vc_heading_with_icon background_color=”#f3f3f3″ heading_title=”Topics Of The Week” heading_icon=”news.svg”][vc_empty_space][vc_row_inner][vc_column_inner width=”1/2″][vc_single_image image=”647233″ img_size=”large” css=”.vc_custom_1536291145175{margin-bottom: 0px !important;}”][vc_column_text]Image Credit: DSV Entertainment[/vc_column_text][vc_custom_heading text=”Securities Commission Has Ordered LaVida Coin To Stop Promotional Activities” use_theme_fonts=”yes” css=”.vc_custom_1536291016664{padding-top: 0px !important;}”][vc_column_text]The cryptocurrency LaVida Coin which was launched by cosmetic queen Datuk Seri Hasmizah Othman or affectionately known as Datuk Seri Vida has been ordered to stop their promotional activities by the SC.

Furthermore, DSV Crypto Club, LUX Galaxies and VI Profit Galaxy, who were found to be promoting LaVida Coin, were also added to the SC’s Investor Alert List posted on www.sc.com.my. On Aug 29, Bank Negara Malaysia listed VI Profit Galaxy (DSV Cryptoclub & LUX Galaxies)—the operator behind LaVida Coin—in its financial consumer alert list.[/vc_column_text][vc_speech_box author_id=”777″ author_image=”645474″ author_content=”Who was she kidding. At least the authorities decided to act in this situation. I’m slightly concerned that the people who were going to buy into this aren’t savvy enough to check consumer watch lists and all. It’s a good first step before the LaVida Coin gets banned (I’m willing to put money on that).”][/vc_column_inner][vc_column_inner width=”1/2″][vc_single_image image=”647234″ img_size=”large” css=”.vc_custom_1536291196622{margin-bottom: 0px !important;}”][vc_column_text]Image Credit: Youtube/ Master Boy TV[/vc_column_text][vc_custom_heading text=”Malaysia Postpones HSR For Two Years And Escapes RM500m Penalty” use_theme_fonts=”yes” css=”.vc_custom_1536293054328{padding-top: 0px !important;}”][vc_column_text]Singapore and Malaysia have come to an agreement to postpone the construction of the KL-Singapore High-Speed Rail until end-May 2020. In a joint statement released on Wednesday (Sep 5), both countries said the HSR express service is now expected to start by Jan 1, 2031, instead of the original commencement date of Dec 31, 2026.

Malaysia will have to pay Singapore around RM45 million for costs incurred in suspending the project rather than the RM500 million penalty if they scrape the project.[/vc_column_text][vc_speech_box author_id=”846″ author_image=”645475″ author_content=”Kudos to the Malaysian and Singaporean government for coming up with an agreement that will benefit us both. As we are in a tough financial situation now, any help is appreciated, and we should look at finding a win-win solution for other mega projects too.”][/vc_column_inner][/vc_row_inner][vc_row_inner][vc_column_inner width=”1/2″][vc_single_image image=”647246″ img_size=”large” css=”.vc_custom_1536292581214{margin-bottom: 0px !important;}”][vc_column_text]Image Credit: Facebook/ Sharaf Saleh[/vc_column_text][vc_custom_heading text=”Touch n Go RFID Pilot Programme Starts With A Sticker On Your Car’s Headlamp” use_theme_fonts=”yes” css=”.vc_custom_1536292778289{padding-top: 0px !important;}”][vc_column_text]The public pilot programme for the radio-frequency identification (RFID) system has begun with Klang Valley highway users who drive Class 1 vehicles (passenger cars, vans, 4x4s and pick-up trucks) with private registration. As the vehicle passes through the toll gate, an overhead scanner reads the radio-frequency from the RFID sticker and deducts the toll fare from the user’s eWallet.

Users will have to visit dedicated centers for installation of the RFID sticker on the left headlamp. The reason why it has to be installed on the headlamp is because it will provide the best reception but it will not be the best for looks. Worse still, you still need to wait for the boom gate to open and close.[/vc_column_text][vc_speech_box author_id=”774″ author_image=”645478″ author_content=”The toll booths already have problems scanning a card, it’s probably going to be a f*cking pain for it to scan these tiny ass stickers. And why do we even need it to be “specially installed”? Only thing good about it is the in-app top up, if that works.”][/vc_column_inner][vc_column_inner width=”1/2″][vc_single_image image=”647248″ img_size=”large” css=”.vc_custom_1536292736518{margin-bottom: 0px !important;}”][vc_column_text]Image Credit: Pexels/ Irina Kostenich[/vc_column_text][vc_custom_heading text=”Say Bye Bye To Smoking Outdoors This December As Gov Tightens The Law On Cigarettes” use_theme_fonts=”yes” css=”.vc_custom_1536292846376{padding-top: 0px !important;}”][vc_column_text]Deputy Health Minister Dr Lee Boon Chye has said that this ban is also one of the ministry’s initiatives to protect the public from the dangers of cigarette smoke. “This gazettement is Malaysia’s commitment as a member state to the Framework Convention on Tobacco Control and adheres to the guidelines under Article 8 of the World Health Organisation (WHO)”.

He added that those found to flout the law can be fined RM10,000 or jailed up to two years. Areas which will be affected include entertainment centres, theatres, elevators, public toilets, air-conditioned eateries, public vehicles, airports, government premises and any area used for the purpose of assembly.[/vc_column_text][vc_speech_box author_id=”827″ author_image=”645476″ author_content=”Other countries have had this restriction in place for ages, so I don’t see a problem. Yeah, I’m sure the smokers will be pissed, but ultimately, it’ll do a world of good for everyone. Now to see how eateries and social hotspots will deal with having to provide purpose-built spaces for smoking.”][/vc_column_inner][/vc_row_inner][vc_empty_space][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]Feature Image Credit: wemotor.com
