Moving into the heartlands: Tesla has set up another V3 Supercharger station, this time at the West side of Singapore.
Late last week, some Teslas were set up to charge test the Superchargers at The Star Vista, and over the weekend, Tesla owners got to charge up their cars as well.
Star Vista is located at 1 Vista Exchange Green in the Bouna Vista area. It is close to the Holland Village and Bukit Timah area.
The Superchargers are indicated to be available 24/7, up to 250kW.
Tesla quickens growth in Singapore
Tesla has been quick in setting up Superchargers and building its presence in Singapore since entering the country last year, indicating its serious interest in dominating the local market with its EVs.
On Jan 15th, 2021, Tesla opened its first dedicated retail store in Southeast Asia in sunny Singapore, at Millenia Walk. Customers can also test drive the cars.
A check on the Tesla website shows that there’s another Supercharger located at Katong V, at 30 East Coast Road. There are now four Supercharger stations in the country – at Orchard Central, Millenia Walk, Katong V, and Star Vista.
Singaporeans showing interest in Tesla
Tesla was the best-selling electric vehicle (EV) in Singapore in the two months it entered the local market in Jul 2021, according to LTA statistics for Sep last year. It ranked the sixth best-selling car brand in the country in the same period.
The interest in EVs comes as the Singapore government plans to phase out internal combustion engine (ICE) cars by 2040.
The Tesla V3 Supercharger, which is exclusive for Tesla owners, is said to shorten EVs’ charging time to just 15 minutes, as compared to normal chargers which typically take several hours for a full charge.
