With every new, high prominent game launching for the 3DS, you can be sure of one thing – chances are, a limited edition 3DS XL will be released alongside the game. During last week’s Nintendo Direct, the company announced a limited edition New 3DS XL that will be themed around The Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask.

The game is an enhanced remake of the original which was released for the Nintendo 64 in 2000. Seen by many as the darkest Legend of Zelda in the series, Majora’s Mask bizarre story and zany cast of characters remains it’s biggest strength.

Nintendo Direct is an online presentation which Nintendo uses to announce upcoming games, peripherals and new updates about their products. The very first Nintendo Direct was a success for Nintendo and new presentations are released at least once in 1-2 months.

The awesome gold plated handheld will be available from February 13 in North America for $199.99 and also in Europe at the same time.

While the limited edition 3DS XL won’t come with a copy of the game in North America, it will come pre-installed in Europe. Nintendo also confirmed that The Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask 3D will be a New Nintendo 3DS XL launch title and gamers can pick up both as soon as February 13. The game is fully compatible with the C-stick (or analog stick if you will), which will have a fully rotating camera exclusive to the new handheld.

A special edition of Majora’s Mask 3D was also announced, which will come with a figurine of Skull Kid, the main antagonist of the game. With so many Nintendo merchandise coming out on February 13th, it remains to be seen if any Valentine’s Day plans will be conveniently forgotten as a result.
