After its launch half a year ago, Gojek announced today that it has hit 10 million trips in Singapore.

The Indonesian ride-hailing giant launched its beta app in Singapore on 29 November 2018, with DBS and POSB card holders getting priority access to the service.

Then, its service only covered selected areas in Singapore, namely the CBD, Jurong East, Changi, Punggol, Ang Mo Kio, and Sentosa.

In line with its 10 million trip milestone, Gojek is also launching its ‘Driver Milestones’ rewards programme for Singapore drivers.

Under the programme, drivers who have completed 1,000, 2,500, and 5,000 trips since Gojek’s Singapore launch will stand to enjoy “enhanced benefits and decals that mark their trip milestones”.

The past few months, Gojek has announced a slew of benefits for its drivers, including fuel rebates, prolonged medical leave insurance, telehealth services, and free mobile data if they sign up for Singtel plans.

Recently, ‘number masking’ was also implemented on the platform to enhance privacy for riders and drivers.

Said Raditya Wibowo, Gojek’s Global Head of Transport: “Following our launch in Singapore, response from the driver community has been extremely positive, with tens of thousands of driver-partners signing up and achieving their milestones, and many new driver-partners coming on board our platform every day.”

Added Lien Choong Luen, General Manager of Gojek Singapore: “With this milestone, we have taken a solid first step in bringing choice back to riders and drivers, and created a great, sustainable ride-hailing product. Our entry has also spurred competition in the market, and most importantly, greater innovation and value for users.”

Gojek also revealed some interesting trivia in its press release.

NEX, Vivocity, and Changi Airport were listed as the top 3 most popular destinations, while Clarke Quay, Golden Mile Complex, and Marina Bay Sands emerged as top late night haunts for Singapore riders.

The top Gojek driver clocked in a whopping 4,000 rides, while the top Gojek rider somehow managed to take 640 rides over a span of 5 months.

Just 2 weeks ago, rival Grab also announced enhancements to its app for drivers, one of which is new section ‘GrabBenefits’ that lets drivers browse and redeem discounts, deals, and rewards.
