Check your Grab app now and you may already see Marriott Bonvoy’s portfolio of hotels and resorts in Malaysia on GrabFood.

Premium dining for delivery is available from 14 participating restaurants under Marriott Bonvoy, including The Brasserie at The St. Regis KL, The Living Room at The Westin KL, Flock and Yen at W KL, and more.

Customers can expect international fares such as Lobster Tagliatelle and Black Angus Beef Tenderloin, curated bento sets, and even local delights and classics.

This marks Marriott International’s first extensive integration with the Grab platform, and Grab’s most comprehensive agreement with a hospitality group to date.

With no active tourism and even a lack of local guests, businesses in that sector have had to come up with strategies to sustain themselves, and hotels weren’t exempt.

A partnership like this isn’t the first time we’ve seen something similar, as food delivery app Beepit had already onboarded The St. Regis KL and W KL for their offerings, to name a few.

However, that integration is not as extensive as Marriott Bonvoy’s current one with GrabFood. To add, one benefit that users can enjoy from this collaboration is the fact that one can earn Grab points and rewards when ordering from Marriott’s restaurants.

Fine dining at home

The takeaway and delivery of fine dining is no longer a foreign concept to Malaysians, considering the pandemic and subsequent lockdowns that restrict travel and dine-ins.

We had spoken to several fine dining restaurants in 2020 to learn about the challenges that came with the pivot, since experience and ambience make up a notable part of the premium experience.

Some had to curate entirely new menus, source more local ingredients, and find ideal packaging for deliveries to ensure that the food quality was not compromised.

Marriott Bonvoy’s collaboration with GrabFood could be taken as a sign that the brand is more confident and ready to embrace the shift in dining culture. It had already started takeaways and deliveries a year ago, but we’ve not seen a move as big as this so far.
