When it comes to business, it’s more often than not what goes unseen that can make the biggest difference.
For instance, it’s not uncommon for businesses nowadays to rely on payment terminals, kiosks, sensors, and the like for their operations.
But because these devices operate using machine-to-machine (M2M) technology, having a stable and secure internet connection becomes ever more important.
This is something that Lunix Power Buddy can personally attest to.
Dictionary time: M2M is a form of technology which allows for connected devices to communicate with one another independently through the internet. This is often facilitated through the use of SIM cards.

Offering convenience on the go
Lunix Power Buddy was founded to solve a simple yet recurring problem.
It’s a power bank rental service, offering convenient charging solutions for those on the move.
“Recognising that carrying personal power banks can be inconvenient, we aimed to provide an accessible, on-the-go charging service,” the team shared.
Operating on a vending machine-style business model, their rental stations are strategically located across Malaysia.
Users can scan the kiosk’s QR code for payment, borrow one of their power banks, carry on with their day, and return the device once they’re done charging.
As Lunix Power Buddy scaled, however, they faced some challenges.
“Our powerbank rental stations rely on real-time data transmission to monitor inventory, manage user transactions, process payments, and report operational statuses,” the team said.
Essentially, their machines are M2M devices, which means they rely on SIM cards to establish a network connection via data plans, much like mobile phones do.
That said, standard mobile SIM cards are not designed for the rigorous, always-on demands of M2M communications, which often require 24/7 connectivity, higher durability, and better network resilience to support continuous business operations.
As such, to ensure stable and reliable connectivity, improved visibility into device performance, and better troubleshooting, Lunix Power Buddy switched to U Business’ M2M data SIMs to improve their operational efficiency as the brand continues to grow.
Operating more seamlessly
After the switch, Lunix Power Buddy saw increased connection stability, which means that the business is able to operate uninterrupted.
With uninterrupted connectivity at payment terminals, they’re able to offer customers a smoother experience when making QR payments before renting one of their power banks from the kiosk.
Device tracking and management was also made significantly easier when they began using U Business’ M2M data SIMs.
Since the terminals can better establish and maintain a connection with Lunix Power Buddy’s network through the M2M data SIMs card, users are able to locate terminals for pick-up or drop-off through the company’s app more seamlessly.
Overall, the improved network connection allowed the brand to scale up more easily.
The increased connection stability also translates into less troubleshooting when adding new devices to a network as time can be cut down on testing and configuration.
This prevents bottlenecks in development timelines, making growth sustainable rather than a hassle.
SIM-pler than you think
