With the end of the year marks a new chapter, and for many that may include pursuing educational goals.

But since the announcement of the government cutting funds for JPA, many have been worried about whether or not they can still find financial aid out there for their education expenditure.

It seems to still be quite a concern among the masses because a Facebook post uploaded yesterday with photos detailing a list of scholarships offered by companies around Malaysia as well as overseas garnered heavy attention. At the time of writing the post has been shared over 7000 times and been liked over 1000 times.

So we decided to take a look through afterschool.my as they provide an extensive list of scholarships offered for universities in Malaysia and abroad. Here’s a list of a few of them in case any of you may be interested.

Local Scholarships:

Undergraduate:

1) University of Reading: High Achiever’s Scholarship Award 

  • Info: Up to 30% off scholarship fees
  • Minimum Requirement: Must be enroll in a course offered by the University of Reading (Malaysia).
  • Field of Study: Any course offered by University of Reading (Malaysia)
  • Deadline: May 1 2017

2) UTAR Nursing Scholarship (Degree)

  • Info: Covers total programme fees, hostel accommodation, monthly allowance, uniform and shoes, and medical and insurance.
  • Minimum Requirement: STPM/Matriculation/Diploma/UTAR Foundation (CGPA 2.50). Click here for more information regarding the criteria.
  • Field of Study: Nursing (Degree)
  • Deadline: March 1 2017

3) St Joseph’s Institution International School IBDP Scholarship 2017

  • Info:  Provide full board and lodging and some basic expenses for students living outside the Klang Valley and overseas.
  • Deadline: January 20 2017

4) Creative Talent Award 2017 (IACT College)

  • Info: 100% Tuition fee waiver. Click here for more information.
  • Minimum Requirement: SPM (1A), UEC (24 Points), Foundation/Matriculation (CGPA 3.0)
  • Field of Study: Media/Mass Communication
  • Deadline: January 9 2017

5) International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma Scholarship Offer

  • Info: Costs covered (Tuition, application fees, registration, land & building fund, IB exam, books, field trips that are included within the tuition fees, campus transport)
  • Minimum Requirement: SPM trial results
  • Field of Study: Media/Mass Communication
  • Deadline: February 28 2017

Postgraduate:

1) Postdoctoral Research Position at University of Malaya

  • Info: The University of Malaya is inviting applications for Postdoctoral Research position in Signal Processing/Pattern Recognition for Telehealth Monitoring.
  • Minimum Requirement: Holds a PhD degree or has submitted PhD dissertation for examination.
  • Field of Study: Postdoctoral Researcher in Signal Processing/Pattern Recognition for Telehealth Monitoring.
  • Deadline: August 31 2017

2) Curtin University Mechanical Engineering Scholarship

  • Field of Study: Media/Mass Communication
  • Deadline: No deadline.

Undergraduate:

1) Global Leader Scholarship (Musashino University, Japan)

  • Info: Up to 100% waiver of tuition fees. Click here for more information.
  • Minimum Requirement: Be at least 18 years old as of 31st August 2017, have completed 12 years of formal education as of 31st August 2017, have attained at least TOEFL iBT 61 or IELTS Academic 5.5 or equivalent (MUET 4.0).
  • Field of Study: Bachelor of Global Business
  • Deadline: February 8 2017

2) Henrietta Hutton Research Grant (UK)

  • Info: Two grants of £500 each
  • Minimum Requirement: Applicants must be students registered at a UK Higher Education Institution. Click here for more information.
  • Field of Study: The field research must last longer than four weeks, but does not have to be related to the student’s academic studies.
  • Deadline: January 18 2017

3) Scholarship Programme for Diaspora Children (India)

  • Info: The Government of India is offering a scholarship programme for diaspora children for Persons of Indian Origin (IPOs).
  • Minimum Requirement: The SPDC is open to applicants between the ages of 17 and 21 years as of October 1.
  • Field of Study: Any except medical-related courses.
  • Deadline: December 31 2017

4) International Undergraduate Merit Scholarships (Newcastle University, UK)

  • Info: Offering 10 100% International Foundation scholarships and unlimited number of International Undergraduate Merit Scholarships.

  • Preferred Discipline: International Foundation Programme, all undergraduate subjects offered by the university
  • Deadline: January 15 2017

5) Dr Abdul Kalam Undergraduate Scholarships for International Students (University of Sydney, Australia)

  • Info: Offering 10 100% International Foundation scholarships and unlimited number of International Undergraduate Merit Scholarships.
  • Minimum Requirement: Have a full/unconditional offer of admission to a full-time undergraduate program in the Faculty of Engineering and Information Technologies at the University of Sydney by the Scholarship application deadline.
  • Preferred Discipline: Engineering/Information Technologies.
  • Deadline: January 9 2017

6) University of Adelaide Undergraduate Scholarship Program (University of Adelaide, Australia)

  • Info: The University of Adelaide provides a waiver of 25% of the annual tuition fee for each year of the program for the full duration of the program, up to a maximum of four years.
  • Minimum Requirement: Available for commencing international undergraduate students only. Click here for more information.

7) Monash International Merit Scholarship (Monash, Australia)

Postgraduate:

1) Islamic Studies Scholarships for Muslim Students (University of Oxford, UK)

  • Info: Covers 100% of University and college fees and a grant for living costs (of at least £14,296).
  • Minimum Requirement: Applicant must be applying to start a new full-time master or DPhil course at Oxford. Click here for more information.
  • Preferred Discipline: all subjects available within the Oxford Centre for Islamic Studies (OCIS) for postgraduate studies.

2) Sadako Ogata Scholarship (University of London, UK)

  • Info: Covers the ‘whole fee’ for the program, equivalent to fees of £7,720 over the lifetime of the award.
  • Minimum Requirement: Applicants must have received an offer of registration for the MA in Refugee Protection and Forced Migration Studies for the relevant upcoming academic session.
  • Preferred Discipline: Refugee Protection and Forced Migration Studies.
  • Deadline: January 16 2017

3) Monash International Leadership Scholarship (Monash University, Australia)

  • Info: 100% course fees paid until the minimum number of points for your degree are completed.
  • Minimum Requirement: Commencing a full-time undergraduate or postgraduate (coursework) degree at a Monash campus in Australia (you must have received a full Monash course offer).
  • Preferred Discipline: Any courses available at Monash University.
  • Deadline: June 12 2017

4) Monica Cole Research Grant

  • Info: £1,000 each year
  • Minimum Requirement: Applicants must be physical geographers undertaking original fieldwork overseas.

  • Info: Depending on university and course chosen.
