While many of us are still struggling to shake of the holiday vibes lingering on from the Christmas and New Year celebrations, there’s no arguing that 2018 is now well underway.

School is in, the offices are bustling, and the familiar sight of the rush hour traffic jam is back in full force.

For some of us though, the hunt for a new job opportunity is still very much on the cards.

Despite the unsavoury outlook circling Malaysia’s economy, hope remains that there’s a perfect vacancy out there awaiting us, one within a company with the scale and renown to take our career aspirations to the next level.

In this month’s round-up of hiring companies, we list down big name players—multinational corporations than span across the globe. These companies are trendsetters and leaders in their respective fields, perfect for those with huge ambitions. It is a brand new year after all, so why not go ahead and dream big?

1. Panasonic Malaysia

Founded in 1918, Panasonic has now grown into one of the world’s largest and well-known manufacturers of both consumer and commercial grade electronics, with over 540 brands under their name including National, Technics, and KDK.

With their Malaysian operations running out of various locations throughout the country, prospective employees can expect to step into a company that will add that will add that bit of gloss to their resume, be it a desk job at their corporate offices or a hands-on position at one of their manufacturing divisions.

As the parent company is Japanese, there is also the opportunity for speakers of the language to put their skills to use.

2. B. Braun Medical Industries

Not to be confused with the other German electronics manufacturer with a similar name, B. Braun Melsungen AG—otherwise just known as B. Braun—are a medical and pharmaceutical device manufacturer hailing from central Germany.

Named as Germany’s best company to work for in 2009, family-run B. Braun has offices in over 64 countries and is considered one of the world’s top healthcare companies, manufacturing commercial-grade health appliances for applications such as cardiotherapy, neurosurgery, and diabetes care.

Their Malaysian plant is located in Penang and they employ over 7k employees, making their Malaysian operations one of the largest in the region.

3. Dyson

This company definitely doesn’t suck, even if their products do (suck up dirt, that is). Founded in 1987 and hailing from the United Kingdom, Dyson is one of the world’s pioneers in vacuum-cleaning tech, and a leading manufacturer of both home and commercial appliances.

Located in Johor, Dyson treats its employees to a clear and detailed career progression path and opens up possibilities for relocations to their other offices around the world, should one be interested. 4. Hershey Malaysia

Hershey is a name beloved by many a sweet tooth. The largest producer of chocolate in North America, the Hershey Company has an estimated 14k employees throughout the world. Under their umbrella is a list of other famous brands such as Reese’s, Kisses, Twizzler’s, and Ice Breakers.

5. Intel Technology

Powering computing tasks around the globe, Intel is an undisputed world leader in the field of microprocessors, networking, and communications.  With offices all around the world, Intel is a truly global brand that will entice prospective employees with the potential for huge advancements career-wise.

Located in Penang’s Free Industrial zone, the Malaysian branch of this technology giant boasts over 5k employees and plenty of employee benefits such as dental, medical, and meal allowances.

6. Shell Business Operations

The oil and gas giant have an extremely massive presence here in Malaysia, and their corporate arm handles everything from legal paperwork to customer satisfaction. Job seekers will be enticed by the lure of having a multinational giant featured on their CV, and Shell backs up the glam with a work environment to cater to employee growth and job satisfaction.

Their Malaysian office is based in Cyberjaya, and has all the trappings of a cool, modern, and hip workplace. Of course there’s a gym and a way fancy employee lounge.

7. Mondelez Malaysia

The name might not sound familiar, but in all probability, you have a Mondelez-manufactured product (or a dozen) sitting in your pantry. The company formerly known as Kraft Foods Malaysia is home to various popular food brands such as Oreo, Cadbury, Chipsmore, and Twisties.

Their Malaysian operations staff over 1.6k employees and are spread out among three manufacturing plants in Shah Alam, Johor Bahru, and Prai. Potential hires will also be interested to know that Mondelez lays out a career progression plan for its employees.

8. Legoland Malaysia

Featuring the LEGOLAND Park, Water Park, and Hotel, working at this company is like working at a playground. After all, who doesn’t want to have fun while at work?

Calling their employees “Model Citizens”, Legoland prides itself on developing talent, employee satisfaction, and exceptional benefits. It’s no wonder then that Legoland Malaysia was listed as one of the best companies to work for in Asia by the HR Asia Award in 2015.

9. GlaxoSmithKline Pharmaceutical

Also more commonly known as GSK, this pharmaceutical juggernaut (ranked sixth largest in the world as of 2015) houses hallmark consumer healthcare and food brands such as Panadol, Horlicks, and Ribena, and would look great on any resume.
