We recently wrote about the unsung heroes who are in the Northern Peninsula of Malaysia, helping victims of the worst flooding Malaysia has ever seen. With many of our readers and team based in Malaysia, it doesn’t seem right to just sit by and watch.

Vulcan Post is joining forces with FundedByMe and Between in an effort to raise cash funds for flood victims in Malaysia. The fundraising site is held on FundedByMe, and all proceeds will go to Mercy Malaysia, a non-profit that is working hard on the ground to help flood victims in this difficult time.

With the support of FundedByMe, additional fees from the crowdfunding site will be waived and only transaction charges (~2%) will apply.

As a result of these floods, more than 160,000 people have been affected, with many losing their homes. They are in need of drinkable water, food, and shelter, and while many volunteers are doing their best to relocate and help survivors, the high flood water levels have made it difficult.

The Malaysian provinces of Kelantan, Terengganu, Pahang, Perak and Perlis are most affected by this disaster.

What You Can Do To Help

Visit the #mybanjir page to pledge a donation, and spread the word about the campaign to your friends, colleagues, and family! Time is of the essence, and we’re hoping to get the funds to the right hands as fast as we can.

The goal is set at SGD10,000, and while that may seem ambitious, with the combined efforts of FundedByMe fans, Between users, and you, the Vulcan Post readers, we’re very sure that this goal can be achieved.

We’re grateful for every dollar donated to this effort, as well as any other contributions you may want to offer.

So spread the word and pledge your help to #MYbanjir! Every little bit counts.
