It’s a new year, and that can only mean one thing; new, unmissable games are going to be released. Have a Wii U and are unsure about what games to spend your hard earned cash on? Read our list to see just some of Nintendo’s upcoming games that shouldn’t be missed.
The Legend of Zelda
Experience the magical world of Hyrule like never before. A series first, the game will feature high definition graphics which quite frankly has been a long time coming. Designer Eiji Aonuma mentioned that he intends to give players more freedom to roam about Hyrule, as the gameplay shifts from a linear path to a more open world. With so much changes in store for one of Nintendo’s most iconic games, it would be nice to get a confirmed release date.
Yoshi’s Wooly World
An upcoming side-scrolling platforming game, Yoshi’s Wooly World marks the first Yoshi home console game since the release of Yoshi’s Story in 1997. Featuring the same graphics style of Kirby’s Epic Yarn, Yoshi and his enemies has been transformed into cute crochets that look absolutely amazing against the yarn inspired backgrounds.
Xenoblade Chronicles X
Serving as a spiritual successor to Xenoblade Chronicles that was released on the Wii, comes another open world game for the Wii U. It is the year 2054, two alien races are engaging in a ferocious battle near Earth, causing significant collateral damage to the planet.
With Earth’s safety at risk, humanity is forced to seek refuge elsewhere. From there, passengers of the White Whale, the American evacuee ship crash lands on planet Mira and attempt to establish their new home while being on the run from the relentless alien race.
Star Fox
Star Fox makes a return after nine years of absence and we couldn’t be more excited. Featuring high-octane aircraft combat with a silly cast of characters, the battle for for air supremacy has never been more fierce.
In December 2014, Miyamoto stated that the game will be released before The Legend of Zelda.
Mario Maker
Ever wanted to build your own Mario game? With Mario Maker, that dream can become a possibility as you let your imagination take over and go wild with the level editor. Featuring distinct graphical styles that can be switched; players can either opt for a retro visual cue or New Super Mario Bros.
