She’s one of the big names in the music industry. If you pop down the Billboard charts or 98.7FM hits list for a visit, odds are you’ll spot her name almost immediately. Besides churning out worldwide hits, she’s also actively participating in philanthropic efforts and serenading a six year old boy battling leukemia.
Even if you don’t appreciate her music, you got to admit, her kindness and bubbly nature makes it impossible to not like her. And it doesn’t look like this is going to change anytime soon. Because this time round, Taylor Swift is winning Instagram, big time.

It goes to show that we should never diminish the power of music and fictional stories. Believe it or not, Taylor Swift is not the only celebrity who pens personal messages to her fans.
Here is a list of other household names who went the extra mile for their true-hearted supporters.
Iggy Pop
This following story is living proof of the old phrase that we always hear: it’s better late than never. Back in 1995, then-21-year-old Laurence wrote a 20-paged letter about her frustration that’s going on in her life and it took 9 months for her to receive a handwritten reply from The Godfather of Punk. The letter arrived when Laurence’s family were being evicted by bailiffs.
Iggy Pop’s response was short and sweet. He shares his painful 21st birthday experience and further writes to encourage Laurence:
“… hang on, my love, and grow big and strong and take your hits and keep going. All my love to a really beautiful girl. That’s you Laurence.”

J.K. Rowling
16-year-old Sacia Flowers has been through a lot. Her drug-addicted parents were murdered and the care of her younger siblings were left in her hands. Not expecting a reply, she decided to write a letter to the British novelist to share her story behind her painful childhood and thank her for creating Harry Potter.
After several weeks, Rowling replied and gave Flowers some great advice on teenage years. What she said:
“You’re now standing on the threshold of a very different phase in your life, one where you are much more likely to find kindred spirits, and much less likely to be subject to the pressures of your teenage years.”

Quentin Tarantino
Sarah Coulter is a huge fan of American film director Quentin Tarantino. She loved his works so much that she sent a letter to her idol and shared her love of horror movies. Not only did Coulter received a handwritten letter, she was also sent signed autographs!
What Tarantino said:
“It’s the best letter I’ve gotten all year long. I’m glad you loved “Dusk”, it was one of my favrote times making a movie. And I feel my best performance so far. It’s cool to hear a girl into horror flicks.”
His letter must have been a major source of encouragement for Coulter. Her love of movies continued; she enrolled in a film school and finished her first script in 2011.
