If there’s one desktop (and now mobile) game that we love playing, it’s definitely Plants versus Zombies. It started in 2009 as a tower defense video game developed by PopCap Games, and now, PvZ has turned into quite the household name for gamers globally.

The concept of the game is a straightforward one: players control and plant different types of plants in a garden plot in the game, and try to fight back an incoming zombie horde.

Each level comes with its own challenges and strategies for staying alive, until all the zombies have been stopped or defeated. Completing each level takes you closer to the final stage, where players take on Gargantuar, the leader of the zombies.

And now, on top of its original garden warfare, PopCap has recently launched 16 whole new levels of Frostbite Caves, the ice age version of PvZ. New plants and zombies have been added into the game, which include the new Pepper-pult, Chard Guard, Stunion, and Rotobaga. New elements in this version include slider tiles, chilling winds and the surprise attack “Snowstorm!”.

Here’s a look at some of the gameplay and graphics:

If you loved the original PvZ, this is the perfect upgrade for you — the gameplay is a familiar one, but with a new setting, the experience gets a lot more interesting. And if you love this new Frostbite Caves version, you’d also be delighted to know this: a second version with more levels will be coming soon too!
