Leonard Nimoy, known globally around the world for playing Mr Spock, the “resolutely logical human-alien” first officer of the Starship Enterprise in “Star Trek”, as New York Times put it, passed away on Friday morning at his home in Los Angeles. He was 83. The cause of the death was end-stage chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, triggered by years of smoking.
