If you want to see gutsy, take a look at the Android Wear advertisement that went live minutes before the Apple event took place early this morning. For us in the eastern part of the world, we would probably have missed this gem, what with all the Apple Watch and Macbook hype in the wee hours of the morning.

So why did it choose to launch this ad at that time? The answer seems pretty simple, given that the Apple Watch is one of Android Wear’s biggest contenders in 2015. But the release of this ad, with its tagline, “Be Together, Not The Same”, almost seems to poke fun at the Apple sheep who are lauding the Apple Watch as the next big wearable.

It also takes a jab at the square-faced Apple Watch, which seems to only come in different straps and prices. After all, Android Wear has much more variety.

And most of all, it’s a cry to remind everyone that yes, they’re still here, and they’re doing just fine. Well played, Android Wear, well played.
