Instagram trends come and go, but when your feed is bombarded with only #ootds and awkward model wannabes, you know it is time to refresh. Here are 10 Instagram accounts that “capture and share the world’s moments”, living up to the site’s tagline.
1. @cute_bubu
Starting off this list is the account with the most followers at 165,000. This snow-white chinchilla raised in Singapore is an Instagram superstar in the local scene, proof enough that the Internet cannot get enough of fluffy animals doing ridiculous things.
2. @sugarrandspice
With over 123,000 followers to date, Georgina is one to watch on Instagram. The 21-year-old posts short workout routines that her followers can adopt to get those killer abs. Her blog is also full of motivational content to keep her followers on track with their fitness regimes.
If the physical exercise is too intense to even watch, she does sweeten the deal with occasional #ootds.
3. @littlemissbento
Shirley Wong, more popularly known by her Instagram handle littlemissbento, is recognised as the top bento artist in Singapore. According to her blog, she is the first certified Singaporean instructor with the Japan Sushi Instructors’ Association, and is also a bento specialist for Bento&co.
She has been featured in The Straits Times, Epicure Food Magazine, and Mediacorp Channel 8, amongst many other media channels. To date, littlemissbento has garnered 45,845 followers.
4. @sandrarileytang
Sandra is known for being the vocalist of Sam Willows, a local band recently awarded Best Local Musician or Group by Citynomads. Standing strong with 30,463 followers to date, she regularly posts about fitness and yoga on her Instagram account, in line with her recent venture as founder of new yoga company The Yoga Co.
In one such Instagram post, she even successfully lifted 80kg! And did I mention she has a blog too?

Natalie’s Instagram posts always set my stomach growling. A professional baker, she began training as a professional French pastry chef in Paris when she was 19. She documents her baking process and final creations on Instagram, to the delight of her 17,359 followers.
Her blog is a treasure trove of recipes and amazing pastry cafés she recommends for those of us who cannot get enough of her bakes.

Take a look at the roads less travelled with Hajar Ali, Founder of Urbane Nomads and Travel Like A Humanitarian. She uploads intermittently while on her adventures, taking her 11,522 followers on an exploration of deserts, ancient architecture, and snow-capped mountains.

Erica is the proud mother of three adorable children — an eldest daughter and fraternal twin babies. Their chubby cheeks and puppy-dog eyes are set to add more followers to the current 3270 people who fawn over their cuteness.

In an interview with lilreddotfolks, illustrator Ly Yeow shared that her creative process is influenced by spontaneity and nostalgia. Each unique artwork captured on Instagram carries her signature style, some of which feature her boyfriend Catboy, and herself.

If you need a reminder of where home is, Yong Lin’s beautiful photography of Singapore is sure to tug at your heartstrings. His photographs showcase the details of Singapore in a way you would never have noticed before.
His work has also been featured on @exploresingapore, an Instagram account which consolidates the best local picks of the day. And unlike other photographers who have gotten their photos featured, Yong Lin is one of the few who dedicates his account to a gallery of landscape photography, most of which are located within Singapore.
With only 238 followers, he is a definitely a dark horse of the local Instagram community.
