Singapore-based fashion social network Clozette has just announced its $3 million Series B funding, led by Phillip Private Equity with participation from existing investors including Walden International and angel investors.
For those unfamiliar with Clozette, the fashion social network focuses on four key community activities: Discover, Share, Organize and Shop.
The center of the site is the virtual closet platform. Within this closet you can store photos of items you own, just bought or simply wish you had. Users can create and share styles, be it with virtual items from products online, or with pictures taken of their favorite items in their closets. Members can comment on posts, like them, and share them. There are outlets for discussion in forums and there is even a section for shopping where products are linked to real places.
Currently, the Singapore based fashion social network has over 300,000 members, mainly women from the Southeast Asia region and generates over eight million pageviews per month. Users on Clozette are also able to discover and shop from more than 3,500 brands which gives Clozette useful data on consumer trends in the fashion world.
Founder and Chief Executive of Clozette, Roger Yuen once shared, “Our aim is to establish Clozette as Asia’s most vibrant fashion portal, providing brands with a unique social media-driven experiential platform to engage the fashion community that at the same time generates unprecedented insights into the fashion world’s consumer preferences.”
Essentially, that captured the essence and the difference between Clozette and the rest of the e commerce platforms and blogshops out there in the market: It isn’t a traditional e-commerce site at all. It focuses on discovery, and trying to become an online public closet for women, a place where they can show off their large collection of clothes, shoes, and accessories and discover collections by other women.
