ComfortDelGro, the largest taxi fleet in Singapore, has just introduced a handy improvement to its mobile app, letting you automatically pay with your credit card once you reach your destination. This is something most of us would definitely welcome; you can now go cashless and pay with MasterPass on the taxi booking platform.

For those unfamiliar with MasterPass, it is a digital wallet developed by MasterCard. Here’s what it looks like when integrated with the ComfortDelGro app:

If you’ve updated your app to the latest version, you will be prompted to sign up for a MasterPass account. Once you link your MasterPass account to your ComfortDelGro app, you will be able to pay your taxi fares using your MasterPass account. According to Codigo — the company helping ComfortDelGro to integrate this feature — this is “the first native mobile app to ever integrate with MasterPass e-wallet”.

Cashless payment methods are not new to taxi booking apps: both GrabTaxi and Uber, two of the leading third party taxi booking apps and private car services in Singapore, also offer cashless payment options to their users. Uber was the pioneer in cashless payment, allowing users to enjoy Uber rides by registering for an account with a valid credit card. In February this year, passengers using GrabTaxi were also given the option to pay by credit card, though cash is still an available mode of payment.
