That’s right, Target. The massive megamart that sells just about anything, now ships to Singapore. This opens up a large variety of options for Singaporeans looking to buy pretty much anything from clothes to toiletries to even devices.
This was first reported by local blog SassyMama, who shared that the international shipping prices are much lower than Amazon. If you visit Target’s online site, you will notice this pop-up greeting Singaporeans.
However, there’s a catch. When testing out the e-commerce platform, the checkout page reveals that there are limits to the products that you’ll be able to ship to Singapore. The Apple Watch, for one, can’t be shipped. A quick browse revealed that several clothing brands were also not available for shipping to Singapore.Shipping costs are determined by Borderfree, though we were unable to determine exactly how the shipping costs are calculated. Nonetheless, the shipping prices seem pretty on par with other sites, making it a great site to be on you’re determined to get some real American goods (despite the tricky selective was of the products).
So while Americans are able to buy pretty much everything from Target, Singaporeans are still able to buy almost everything.
This sudden availability is part of Target’s larger attempt to expand internationally. Their first attempt to grow out of the USA, into their neighbouring country of Canada, ended as a bust. To remedy this issue, they’ve attempted once again by launching their international store, and progressively expanding to other countries.
Will Singaporeans take to Target? I guess we’ll see.
