Model 3 Debut
Earlier on, thousands of Tesla Motors fans camped and queued overnight to put down US$1,000 deposits for its new Model 3.
This is the first time we saw the public actually queuing up for cars – a scene that can only be seen for tech gadget debuts, such as the Apple product launch.
“It’s the beginning of a new era. I want to support that revolution,” a 25-year-old biomaterials engineer, Ali Athar said. He waited for about five hours before signing up for two cars.
The Tesla Model 3 vehicle will go into production in late 2017 and is expected to cost around US$35,000 before tax breaks.
As David E. Weekly puts it: “Brand power: thousand+ people lined up to put a deposit down ON A CAR THEY KNOW NOTHING ABOUT other than that it is made by Tesla.”
