The fare to the airport is the one expense that we can’t do without when it comes to travelling. After all, before we even start daydreaming of our vacation abroad, we would first have to step our feet into the airport. Even for me, I regard transportation expenses to the airport as something which I close one eye to, even if the prices are sky-high, which they often times are—but turns out it doesn’t have to be that way.

In time for the Hari Raya celebrations that’s coming up, ride-sharing app Grab is lowering their fixed fares to/from KLIA and KLIA2 and it is an option that locals can use for cheaper airport transfers. GrabCar will be lowering their fixed fares from the original price of RM90 to RM65 per journey, and this price is not inclusive of toll charges.

Every Extra Bit Of Savings

Besides saving up more money for each way of travel (which automatically translates to extra money to spend on souvenirs and shopping), GrabCar is also a convenient way to travel as you could do away with lugging heavy bags in and out of stations or hailing another cab to bring you right to your front door.

Jaygan Fu, the Country Manager of Grab Malaysia relayed, “Since the beginning, Grab is committed to provide a service to passengers. It’s not just about safe and reliable mode of transportation. It’s also about being sure of getting a ride whenever needed, at an affordable price.”

“By helping folks to stretch the Ringgit as much as possible this holiday season, Grab will be able to encourage folks to expand their horizons and spend more quality time with their loved ones,” he added.

How It Works

Another plus would be that there would be no changes in the fare if you have to make an expected detour. You could also have the option of carrying less cash with you whilst travelling, as passengers of GrabCar are free to pay using their debit or credit card instead. This makes travelling safer, and this new pricing is valid until further notice with no promo code needed.

What this means is if for instance, three of your friends are going for a holiday and you decide to share the journey costs, it would only be approximately RM16.25 per person as compared to other options of airport transfers.

In order to start trying out the new prices, just download the Grab app via Google Play or the Apple App store. Next, select the Economy icon and choose your payment method via cash, credit or debit. The following step would be to choose a pick-up point in a location within Klang Valley and a drop-off point which would be KLIA or KLIA2.

Likewise, if you are returning home from the airport, choose your pick-up point of either KLIA or KLIA2, and a drop-off point of anywhere within the Klang Valley. Learn more about this new fixed fare here.
