The hire private car industry on our sunny island is booming, as much as it is controversial. With major players like Uber and Grab grabbing (pun intended) headlines almost daily, and with new players like EthozCab joining the frenzy, consumers are more than ever spoilt for choice when deciding on means to get to a local destination.

With competition also comes similarly competitive promotions in a bid to entice new users to hop on board. For example, a host of discount codes can be easily accessed most of the time – all in the name of growing user bases and giving traditional taxi companies a run for their money.

Uber Tag-Teams With Shopback

Today, Uber has upped their game by partnering with popular online cashback platform, Shopback.

Many would know Shopback as an avenue from which they can earn additional cashback from their purchases, on top of the many discounts available when buying from an online retailer.

Before this, the only journeys from which you can earn from Shopback were overseas-bound holidays – when booking flights from the partner sites available. Well, now you can earn cashback when traveling around Singapore too!

And How Do You Do This?

If you are familiar to both Shopback and Uber, you definitely have a head start. If you’re not, we got you covered.

Simply follow the steps below:

First visit the Shopback website through your mobile browser.

Important note – the email address used in both your Shopback and Uber accounts must be the same! This is to easily validate and facilitate payments between both accounts.

Continue by tapping on the Shop Now button.

Here’s where you can get all the necessary information for the cashback and also promo codes to use for your next Uber ride.

If you are a new Uber user, use promo code SBNEW to get 100% Cashback up to a maximum cap of SGD$15 for your first ride – you may just get that ride for free. For existing Uber users, you use promo code SBUB50 to get $0.50 Cashback for the first ride of each day.

Now, continue by tapping on Shop Now again.

After a short loading time, you will be prompted by your browser to open the Uber app. Click OK.

After selecting the service of your choice, tap on the PROMO CODE button on the bottom right of your screen before proceeding to request for your ride.

Enter the relevant code, and tap on APPLY.

That’s all there is to it! You can now proceed to request for you ride in the previous screen.

There’s still an additional step before you can enjoy your cashback.

After The Ride

Once your ride has been confirmed, you will receive a receipt for it in your email inbox. Forward that email in its entirety to uber@shopback.com within 7 working days from the date of your Uber trip.

Shopback has also posted several guidelines to make sure that the email you forwarded is ready to be processed. Be sure to follow them to avoid unnecessary delays to your cashback transactions.
