It’s everywhere in the news—Joseph Schooling is home. In celebration of the Olympic winner’s homecoming, many companies have been spurred by their national pride to offer discounts the public can enjoy. From food to taxis, Singaporeans, be ready to go all out.
Food Discounts
McDonald’s has given away free six piece McNuggets at its branches to the first 5o customers from 11 this morning.
Fast food rival Burger King has also decided to offer one small free golden thick cut fries with any purchase of an à la carte burger from 13-15 August.
Joining the list is KFC. They will be a giving away free piece of chicken with any meal purchase from the 15th to the 16th of August.
Not to be left out, Bee Cheng Hiang is giving a whopping 50.39% discount of 1kg of their Gold Bakkwa.
Canopy Garden Dining and Middle Rock Garden Bar are also offering a discount of 50.39% for their brunch and dinner menus. What was supposed to be a one day event on the 14th of August is now extended till Friday, 19th of August.
Other Offers Up For Grabs
Citizens get to enjoy $3 off three rides to and from swimming complexes with GrabCar till the end of August.
Comfort DelGro offered the first 1,000 customers a ten dollar discount when they travelled to Changi Airport during 3am-5am this morning. In addition, all Comfort taxis are sporting “Our Pride J Schooling” on their rooftop signs, a gesture that will last for a week.
While some offered special deals with their products others congratulated the swimmer with dedicated posts on social media. Companies such as Brands, POSB, Pizza Hut, SMRT and Coffee Bean posted images congratulating and thanking Schooling on their Facebook accounts.
BreadTalk was the first of the food chains to give out products to the first of their 100 customers on Saturday 13th of August. They have also posted videos of the Olympic swimmer’s winning lap.
All in all, the 21-year-old homegrown medallist Joseph Schooling has done Singapore proud. We may celebrate it differently but definitely as one.
