Earlier today, on demand private chauffeur Uber has just released its long awaited UberX fleet to selected users in Singapore.
Unfamiliar with Uber?
Before Uber launched its service in Singapore, the only way for people to get around is through the public transport (cab) or by driving. If you do not own a car and want to travel by cab, you have to either flag down a cab or call the taxi booking number up.
Uber changed that: You can now travel in style.
Founded in 2009 in the United States, Uber provides on demand private driver to anyone. Need a private driver now? Simply launch the Uber app, select your pick up location, and a classy luxurious car will be on its way to pick you up. You can also track where the driver is so that you are kept in the loop on his location.
The luxury experience do come with a cost though: a trip through the normal Uber Sedan is significantly more expensive than the normal cab charges.
To solve that, Uber launched its cheaper version of car fleet UberX for those whom are looking for a more affordable option, without compromising the quality and experience Uber promised to its users. The difference is that instead of a black Mercedes S Class rolling up, with UberX, you will now see a Toyota Corolla or Camry curbside. And of course, when you’re finished with your UberX ride, the fare will be substantially lesser than what you would pay for.
UberX is only available for select users for now.
Here’s the official announcement from Uber Singapore, available only for its selected users (published with permission):
On top of that, Uber Singapore also announced that it has updated its pricing in Singapore.
While the prices might be lowered, the toll charges are now passed to the customers.
