The card games from our childhood have been brought to your smartphone screens. Garena, Asia’s consumer Internet platform provider, has just released their first English Role-Playing (RPG) card game – House of Heroes! Originally set in Chinese, the game features a stunning fantasy setting where you collect and develop your own team of card heroes to battle the enemy, win points and rewards, and become the strongest in the land.
First launched in mainland China in Dec 2013, the game developer decided to introduce the game to regions outside mainland China, with Garena as its exclusive distributor.
The chinese title of the game was launched in Singapore and Malaysia in July 2014 and received great responses, with 41,000 registered users to date. However, heeding the numerous requests from players to set the game in English, Garena has adopted an English localized version that they hope will be a hit among avid gamers in this region.
Game Mechanics And How It Works
How the game works is simple. First, you access the game through Facebook or Garena. Once you are logged in, you can create your best line-up of heroes, from the hundreds of beautifully crafted heroes, items, and spells.
We had a chance to give the game a try. Upon registering, you are able to select from 3 heroes: Strength, Intelligent and Agility. Strength heroes have the highest hit points and are the most durable. Intelligent heroes have the highest mana which allows them to be excellent support to your heroes line up. Agility heroes on the other hand, can launch more attacks. Obviously, we had to choose a Strength hero as our starting hero.
There is a simple run-through which helps you get up to speed with the game. Gamers can work their way up to defeat the boss on each level, and upgrade their team constantly to fight bigger battles! Of course, there are options for paid purchases.
What is particularly appealing about the game is that as you progress further to the game, more game mechanics are unlocked leaving you refreshing new items to be discovered. Throughout the game, we understand that there are over 200 plus spells that you can discover for your heroes, and you can also enjoy the game with your friends and battle through the 200 plus different game stages, more than enough for your upcoming holidays.
