Don’t you hate it when you’re roaming around your house while watching a Youtube video, and your experience comes to a rude halt because you’re out of the Wi-Fi zone of your router?

Well, Google feels that pain, and has announced that it’s bringing Google Wifi to Singapore, in partnership with StarHub.

As compared to our traditional routers, Google Wifi is a mesh networking system, and promises to “put an end to dead zones”, while ensuring strong and fast signals for all connected devices.

Singapore is the first Southeast Asian country to get Google Wifi.

A Very DIY Set-Up Process

I’m pretty sure many of us relate to the experience of when the setting up of routers at home usually requires a technician, reading many manuals, and whole lot of troubleshooting.

For Google Wifi, the set up process is a lot more simple.

All users will need to do is download the Google Wifi app (available on iOS and Android) and follow the instructions. With the app, users can also see the connected devices and the bandwidth that each are using.

The “Priority Device” setting also helps users to determine which of the connected devices require more bandwidth.

Giving You Optimal WiFi Connection, Schedule Wi-Fi Pauses For Kids

Google also promises that with the Wifi, users will be always be getting optimal Wi-Fi connection.

Even as you are moving from room to room, Network Assist will automatically transition your device between the Google Wifi system points, keeping you connected to the point with the strongest signal so you avoid dead spots or delays.

For the parents among its users, the Wifi also lets them pause the Wi-Fi on their kids’ devices, or create scheduled pauses for dinner time and bedtime.

Said Martin Geh, Managing Director, APAC Hardware Partnerships at Google said, “Having a fast and reliable Wi-Fi connection is important to Singaporeans. Google Wifi provides seamless coverage at home, solving common issues like dead zones, spotty Wi-Fi connections, confusing set up processes and so much more.”

So When Can We Get It?

Tomorrow!

From 31 August, customers will be able to buy a three-pack Google Wifi bundle at $15 per month over 24 months when they sign up for or renew selected StarHub Broadband or Hubbing all-in-one plans.

So yes, it’s only for Starhub customers. (At the moment, perhaps? Watch this space.)
