U Mobile have today announced the official launch of Malaysia’s first telco assurance. Called GOLIFE, the assurance offers existing U Mobile customers two coverage options with corresponding rates that can be paid monthly.

Beginning today, U Mobile subscribers between the ages of 18 to 45 will be able to choose between GOLIFE 5 (RM5/month) or GOLIFE 10 (RM10/month), and will be able to receive coverage of up to RM76,000 in the event of death or total permanent disability (TPD).

The idea behind GOLIFE was first conceived last May, when U Mobile and insurance firm Sun Life Malaysia signedd a memorandum of understanding to jointly develop a mobile-based microinsurance product that subscribers could manage entirely through their mobile phones.

“At U Mobile, we innovate to provide the best experience to our customers. As part of our continued efforts to give unlimited peace of mind, today, we are delighted to be able to launch the first life microinsurance with Sun Life Malaysia,” said U Mobile’s Chief Executive Officer, Wong Heang Tuck last November.

“I believe many people will be able to benefit from such a service as it convenient and extremely relevant.”

The key features of GOLIFE include:

  • Online registration: Those interested can register through the app and be protected immediately following one declaration of health.
  • No fixed commitments: Users can subscribe and unsubscribe at any time.
  • A 60-day satisfaction guarantee: Users can unsubscribe within the first 60 days and receive a full refund.

As a means to boost early mass adoption, U Mobile have provided selected existing U Mobile subscribers with two months of complimentary GOLIFE 5 coverage. Those selected will be notified via their MyUMobile app.

Beyond this, subscribers who wish to continue with the plan can register through the U Mobile app in four steps:
