The Huawei Nova 2 Lite will be making a debut this Thursday, in time for IT Show 2018.

Huawei has definitely been crushing it in the midrange smartphone market recently, delivering near flagship performance in a price bracket that anyone can afford.

Last year, we took a look at the Huawei Nova 2i, and despite its lower price point, it proved its worth by even keeping up with a Samsung Galaxy S8 in most tasks.

Today, Huawei is announcing its successor.

The Huawei Nova 2 Lite is picking up where the Nova 2i left off.

Huawei’a latest midrange device continues the smartphone manufacturer’s trend of integrating flagship features into a device aimed at performance and affordability.

The star of the show is undoubtedly the dual rear cameras.

A 13 megapixel camera takes care of all your mobile photography needs, and coupled with a secondary depth-sensing 2 megapixel camera, it allows you to get the blurry background to isolate your subjects.

You can also control how blur the background gets using one of the seven aperture settings.

Not only that – you can also refocus your photos after capturing them.

Selfie enthusiasts will be glad to know that there’s a wide angle, large aperture 8 megapixel front camera that brings with it an intelligent selfie toning flash.

Android 8.0 Oreo And Face Unlock

You will also be glad to know that the Huawei Nova Lite has the latest version of Android installed – 8.0 Oreo.

While most midrange smartphones struggle with older versions of Google’s mobile operating system, you have access to the best Android can offer.

Another cool thing about the Huawei Nova 2 Lite is its ability to unlock the phone using your face.

Yes, this is definitely nothing new among smartphones, but probably for the first time ever, you won’t have to spend more than $1,000 to gain access to it.

Huawei’s Face Unlock uses high-precision facial recognition technology that is powered by an AI algorithm to automatically detect up to 1,024 points on the human face and perform high-accuracy mapping.

What means for users of the Nova 2 Lite is that you have the ability to unlock your phone with your face in less than 900 milliseconds.

Lastly, here’s a fun feature to look forward to – Karaoke Mode.

As the name suggests, this is for all you karaoke enthusiasts who sing your hearts out in a disco ball lit room.

This feature lets users hear their own voice while singing into the microphone on their headsets – as if you were in a recording studio.

The Huawei Nova 2 Lite will be available from 15 March 2018, at S$298.

Here’s where you can get this phone on Thursday;

  • IT SHOW 2018: Booths 8139 & 8205
  • All Huawei Concept Stores
  • Telcos: M1, Singtel and StarHub Stores Island-wide
  • Online at Lazada.sg and Qoo10.sg
  • All Major Consumer Electronic Stores (Best Denki, Courts, Harvey Norman) and all Huawei Authorised Resellers
