Uber may no longer exist on our side of the world, but its presence is ever as strong in the US and Europe markets.
Bloomberg has just reported that Uber Technologies Inc. is in early talks to acquire British food delivery firm, Deliveroo, for “several billion dollars” according to people familiar with the plans.
With London-based Deliveroo last valued at more than US$2 billion, Uber’s acquisition offer would need to be considerably above this amount.
However, its too soon to say if the talks will go through, with sources saying Deliveroo and its investors have been reluctant to relinquish independence.
Having raised US$480 million from investors last year, Deliveroo is one of the biggest startups in Europe, and also the direct competitor to Uber’s food delivery arm, Uber Eats.
Uber’s attempt at acquiring Deliveroo would be a major step towards dominating the food delivery scene in Europe.
