Singapore-based global sports media property, ONE Championship (ONE) announced today (29 April) that it has launched ONE Studios, its TV and film production division of ONE.
ONE Studios aims to deliver high quality television programmes and feature films on the athletes at ONE, from genres ranging from visionary epics to blockbuster movies.
Content will be distributed globally via Netflix, YouTube, Facebook, and Amazon, among others, and to their existing 140+ TV broadcast partners around the world.
Chatri Sityodtong, Chairman and CEO of ONE Championship stated, “We have been working on our first movie project over the last several months, and I will make a huge announcement soon.”
Last year, we had the opportunity to speak to Chatri and in that interview, he iterated on the humanity aspect of the athletes, on the trials and tribulations successful athletes have gone through to get them to where they are now.
“We finally figured out that people don’t watch because of the punch or the kick or the submission. People watch because their heroes are representing their country on the global stage of martial arts.
With the launch of ONE Studios, there is now a platform that is better able to fully tell the stories of ONE athletes.
Chatri takes it upon his duty to give ONE athletes “the brightest futures possible” and the launch of ONE Studios will present more opportunities than before for athletes to continue living their dreams after they retire.
“Unlike our global competitors who sell fights, ONE Championship is on a mission to unleash real-life superheroes who ignite the world with hope, strength, dreams, and inspiration,” he continued.
“We don’t sell fights. We build heroes.”
He said that ONE Studios will be a platform for their heroes throughout their careers to spread their messages and inspire everyone, and revealed that his dream is to “create the next generation of heroes around the world like Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson and Jackie Chan”.
Chatri believes that their model is “infinitely scalable across the world” as values, heroes, and stories are found in every country.
“Through the power of media and the magic of storytelling, our mission is to unleash real-life superheroes, celebrate values, ignite dreams, inspire nations, and change the world.”
In November last year, ONE has also announced its partnership with national telco, Singtel, and gaming peripherals giant, Razer, and launched ONE eSports.
