Huawei have really carved a niche for themselves in the smartphone arena with their Leica-engineered cameras, and it looks like they’re setting their sights on the laptop market next.

After a promising preview at this year’s Consumer Electronics Show (CES) and Mobile World Congress (MWC), the Chinese tech giant will be releasing not one, but two laptops that follow the Huawei philosophy of offering attractive specs at an even more attractive price.

The Matebook 13 is Huawei’s ultra portable, mid-range option — weighing just 1.3kg, it’s just as light as Apple’s Macbook Air. The 13-inch 2K screen also adopts a rather unique 3:2 display (as opposed to the traditional 16:9), which allows apps like Microsoft Word to display more content for better productivity.

The higher-end Matebook X Pro, on the other hand, comes with a 13.9-inch 3K screen, along with a massive 57.4wh battery that’ll give users up to 12 hours of battery life. The laptop is also equipped with Dolby Atmos quad speakers, which makes it a great choice for professionals and content creators.

Among other cool features (that we’ll get more into in a more in-depth article), both laptops come with the latest version of Huawei Share, which allows Huawei phone users to transfer files by simply tapping the two devices together. It looks like Huawei is looking to build an ecosystem, which is great news for those already using their products.

While the Matebook X Pro doesn’t have a concrete release date yet, the Matebook 13 will be available in Singapore on the 30th of May. Coming in at $1,348 and $1,498 for the 256GB/i5 and 512GB/i7 versions respectively, both versions will be available at Huawei’s official online store on Lazada, Huawei Concept Stores and selected retailers.

Considering that a mere $150 will get you twice the storage and a much more powerful processor, we’d recommend going for the 512GB/i7 option to really future-proof your purchase.

If you’re planning to get the Matebook 13 at launch, you might want to get yours at the PC Show happening from the 30th of May to the 2nd of June. Every purchase there comes with a free Huawei Watch GT and Huawei backpack (worth $477 in total), so there’s no reason to get it anywhere else during that period, really.

If you’ve been keeping up with the development of the P30, you’ll know that in addition to Aurora, Breathing Crystal and Black, the phone also comes in a reflective orange “Amber Sunrise” colourway.

While this option wasn’t available locally at launch, Huawei have announced that this P30 Pro variant will also hit Singapore’s shores on the 30th of May, coming with 512GB of storage and 8GB of RAM and a S$1,698 price tag.

This special edition will be available exclusively on Huawei’s official online store, and all Huawei Concept Stores as well. If you’ve been holding back on getting a Huawei’s newest flagship, this new colourway just might be the thing to tip you over.
