From Tuesday (28 May), Singaporeans can order Apple’s newest iPod touch on its website and in the Apple Store app, and in stores later this week.
It’s the first new iPod touch in four years and Apple is highlighting music and games as it continued to make a priority of serving up digital content.
“We’re making the most affordable iOS device even better with performance that is twice as fast as before, Group FaceTime and augmented reality,” said Apple vice president of product marketing Greg Joswiak.
“The ultra-thin and lightweight design of iPod touch has always made it ideal for enjoying games, music and so much more wherever you go.”
Inside The New iPod Touch
Compared to the previous generation of iPod touch, the Apple-designed A10 Fusion chip improves performance by up to two times and ups the graphics by three times.
For the first time on iPod, it can run immersive augmented reality (AR) experiences and Group FaceTime, which lets users chat with family members, friends, or colleagues simultaneously.
It also has a 4-inch retina display, 8-megapixel camera, and comes in six different colours: space grey, gold, silver, pink, blue, and (PRODUCT) RED.
The iPod touch can connect to the Internet using Wi-Fi.
With storage up to 256GB, iPod touch users have plenty of space to download music for offline listening through Apple Music or the iTunes Store, as well as games.
Palm-Sized Entertainment Hub
Launched by Apple in 2001, the first iPod digital music player has come a long way to its modern iPod touch iteration today which is popular with people, particularly with parents who want to give their children access to the internet without the cost of telecommunications services.
Apple Music subscribers can access a catalogue of over 50 million songs, thousands of playlists, Beats 1 Radio, daily editorial selections from global music experts, and watch music videos, the press release stated.
Earlier this year, Apple also revealed streaming video plans – the Apple TV+ service will launch this year in 100 countries.
The company also launched Apple News+ in the US and Canada and will make it available for Britain and Australia later this year.
According to Apple, iOS is the world’s largest gaming platform.
The phone-maker is set to launch the Apple Arcade later this year, a game subscription service with over 100 new and exclusive games with no ads or additional purchases, and the ability to download games to play offline.
With the improved specifications, the new iPod touch will make gaming and consuming entertainment even more immersive, vivid, and smooth.
Prices for the new iPod touch starts at S$299 for the 32GB model, S$469 for the 128GB model, and S$639 for the 356GB model.
