It’s that time of the year again — the Great Singapore Sale is back, giving the whole of Singapore a free pass of sorts to spend the money they’ve painstakingly tried to save for the past six months.
The Great Singapore Sale isn’t the only GSS that’s happening this year, though. From now till the 31st of July, the folks at Grab have been holding something called the Grab Singapore Sale, offering a host of weekly deals that’ll save you more money than a discount at Uniqlo ever would.
And if you’ve somehow missed out on these deals, there’s still the Spend & Win promotion, where every transaction of $10 or more using GrabPay Credits gives you a lucky draw chance to win prizes worth a total of $150,000.
There’s no limit on how many times you can enter the lucky draw, so here are some tips to maximise your chances of winning.
The More (Orders), The Merrier
We don’t know about you, but the bulk of our GrabPay transactions are for small-ticket items like fast food and bubble tea.
And while orders like these don’t usually reach the required $10 on their own, they can with a little help from your friends. Just consolidate your orders instead of paying separately, so that the total bill comes up to $10 or more.
Considering how often we make orders like these (we really like bubble tea, okay?), the amount of lucky draw chances you can get from doing this is pretty significant.
Foot The Bill…At First
Considering how affordable and convenient food delivery has become, combined GrabFood orders among friends and colleagues are a pretty common occurrence these days.
And in the same vein as the previous point, you should volunteer to make the order so that the lucky draw chances go to your account (Just make sure that everyone pays you back afterwards).
If you’re feeling particularly kiasu, you could even make multiple orders to maximise the number of lucky draw chances you earn from a single meal.
Use The Right Wallet
Grab rides are another easy way to rack up a transaction of $10 or more, but a common mistake that most people make is paying directly with their credit/debit cards instead of using GrabPay Credits.
It might take an extra step to transfer into money your GrabPay wallet, but the hassle is well worth it, especially if you’re a frequent rider.
Think of it this way — you’ll be taking the ride regardless of your payment type, so you might as well make the most out of it, right?
Not Just For Bubble Tea
There’s a common misconception that GrabPay is only accepted at F&B establishments, but their list of merchants actually include attractions like the ArtScience Museum and S.E.A Aquarium as well.
If you’re not sure where to start, scroll down on the home page of the Grab app and you’ll find a “Places to Explore” tab that’ll show you some of the more popular establishments that you can use your GrabPay Credits at.
So look out for the GrabPay QR code wherever you go, because you never know when a simple entry ticket could lead to some extra lucky draw chances.
Tis’ The Season To Be Shopping
Considering that the Great Singapore Sale has some of the biggest discounts of the year, there’s no better time to stock up on gifts for birthdays, Secret Santas and everything in between.
And if you’re going to be doing some shopping, why not kill two birds with one stone? Simply shop at stores that accept GrabPay Credits, and you’ll increase your chances of winning while saving yourself from last-minute panic attacks at the same time.
Over 10,000 Prizes Up For Grabs
These tips might sound a tad inconvenient to put into practice, but when the prizes include a Dyson V11 Absolute Vacuum, $1,000 worth of Zalora vouchers, and an entire cathay Cineplex’s Platinum movie suites hall reserved for you, we’re pretty sure that it’s worth the effort.
Besides, there’s no reason not to use your GrabPay Credits in the first place — you’re saving yourself the hassle of taking out your wallet every time you want to make a payment, and the GrabRewards points that you earn with every transaction gets you swag like vouchers and KrisFlyer miles for virtually no effort on your part.
The Great Singapore Sale tends to bring out the kiasu-ness in us all (don’t believe us? check out the video below to see just how kiasu our colleagues can get), and it looks like the Grab Singapore Sale just gave us a whole lot more reasons to.
