DBS Bank announced the beta launch of their DBS Travel Marketplace on 9 July 2019.
They have partnered with Singapore Airlines, Expedia Partner Solutions and Chubb Insurance Singapore to create a one-stop platform where travellers can book flights, hotels and get free travel insurance in one place.
DBS says the marketplace will offer competitive flight fares and hotel rates for over 25,000 holiday destinations worldwide.
They’ll be the first bank that Singapore Airlines is connecting with to provide direct flight sales.
The beta launch follows a recently signed memorandum of understanding between the two to enhance digital capabilities across various digital platforms.
Over the next few months, DBS and SIA will also let customers manage their flight bookings, and introduce KrisShop merchandising capabilities on the platform.
DBS Head of Consumer Banking (Singapore) Jeremy Soo says the bank wants to help travellers reduce the time and effort they need to spend on multiple channels.
“Many spend a significant amount of their time on pre-vacation planning on multiple sites poring over multi-city connecting flights, researching accommodation options, and making sure they have adequate travel insurance,” he said.
“By working with leading partners from the airline, hospitality and insurances spaces, DBS Travel Marketplace can effectively streamline this process.”
One thing customers can look forward to when they book through the new marketplace, is that every traveller named in the party will receive complimentary travel insurance.
It will cover them for journey cancellation, travel delay, baggage delay, accidental death and disablement.
DBS and POSB customers can also choose to offset the cost of their travel bookings with their DBS Points or POSB Daily$.
This is the fourth of such integrated digital marketplaces DBS has launched, after its car, property and electricity marketplaces.
