If you have ever wanted to drive a luxury car without the commitment of owning it long-term and paying the exorbitant COE fees, now you can.

BMW has just brought their car subscription service Access by BMW to Singapore.

For a flat monthly fee, the rental covers taxes and insurance, maintenance, roadside assistance, and gives drivers unlimited mileage.

Outside of that, you’ll have to pay for your own petrol, parking and ERP charges.

Previously, local automotive marketplace Carro was the first to launch a car subscription service here, offering three types of plans that cost between $1,199/month to $1,999/month.

Their options range from small cars suitable for individuals, to family SUVs, and luxury cars including BMWs and the like as well.

But people who want to take the high road all the way may be the ones who are willing to shell out higher prices for Access by BMW, whose rental rates start at $2,288/month.

This is the monthly price to rent a BMW 118i on a three-month term.

Access by BMW provides the option to rent their cars on a one-month or three-month subscription term, where the latter comes at a slightly lower monthly rate.

Here are some of the available models and their rates:

  • BMW 118i: $2,388/month (1-month term) or $2,288/month (3-month term)
  • BMW 330i M Sport: $3,488/month (1-month term) or $3,388/month (3-month term)
  • BMW 520i Sport: $3,788/month (1-month term) or $3,488/month (3-month term)
  • BMW X4 xDrive20i: $3,788/month (1-month term) or $3,488/month (3-month term)

Across a range spanning BMW’s 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 and X series, most of the models will be available for rent as soon as 18 July.

At the end of your rental term, subscriptions will be automatically renewed as long as the car is still available for the whole of the next term.

Users can pause or stop their subscriptions, but will have to give a notice at least seven days before the last day of their current term to prevent being billed for the next term.

Likewise, you can switch between other BMW cars if you notify the service at least 7 days before the end of your term.

As luxurious as it gets, Access by BMW also arranges for your chosen car to be delivered to you by a concierge, so you don’t even have to travel to pick it up.

However, the high life obviously comes with its premium prices, and one downside is that you’ll have to part with $1,000 as a non-refundable, one-time activation fee when you pay for your first month of subscription.
