Hot on the heels of the launch of Apple’s game subscription service Apple Arcade comes Google Play Pass, which is promising access to “hundreds of awesome games free of ads or hawked virtual wares”.
True to its name, Google Play Pass includes access to popular game titles like Stardew Valley, Terraria, Monument Valley, Risk, and Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic.
Not to be confused with Google Stadia, Google’s upcoming cloud gaming service which is capable of streaming video games up to 4K resolution at 60fps on desktops, smartphones, smart TVs and tablets, Google Play Pass also includes apps that help users unwind and those that power productivity.
Just like Apple Arcade, Google Play Pass also costs US$4.99 per month.
Google Play Pass will be coming to Android devices in the US this week, but the launch date for other countries is still up in the air.
Google added that it will be adding new games and apps to the service each month.
