Context: The Ultra Pass™ is an Internet Pass subscription that offers customers with more quota to surf and comes with a daily, weekly, or monthly validity.
There is a fair bit to unpack about this offer, and we’ve broken it down all in one place here.
1. You’ll get 1 hour of unlimited data every single day
Prices start from RM10 for the weekly Ultra Pass™ to get access to free unlimited internet for 1 hour every day.
This means that you get to choose when and where you want to activate it every day, at your time of choosing and convenience.
And do remember to redeem it daily, because any unredeemed unlimited internet will not be carried forward to the next day. Redemption starts from 12:00am until 11:59pm every day.
2. The hotspot/tethering situation
The next question usually is, can you hotspot or tether it? And the simple answer in this case is, yes, you can.
3. The VIP treatment on iflix
With unlimited internet, you’d want to have content to use it with, and the Ultra Pass™ come with iflix VIP access, with no redemption required.
VIP access allows you to stream premium movies and TV series and LIVE special events, with no advertising. For context, iflix’s VIP access is normally worth RM3 a week and RM10 monthly.
At last count, iflix Malaysia had about 470 different titles, so it will take you a while to get through them. The access expires with the Ultra Pass™ and renews with the pass too.
4. Unlimited YouTube, anyone?
There’s nothing like hours upon hours of bingeing on the rabbit hole known as YouTube. Luckily, all the weekly and monthly Ultra Pass™ come with free unlimited YouTube streaming too.
There is a catch to it though: this is more for the night owls, with unlimited YouTube streaming available only from 1 AM to 7 AM daily.
5. Dual points of access and activation
To activate the daily Unlimited Internet, just use USSD *118*2*3# or the Celcom Life app.
For the Ultra Pass™ itself, you can purchase subscription services, and track and manage your account by dialling *118# or go through the app.
6. But wait, there’s more data to use
Besides the unlimited internet daily, all the Ultra Pass™ come with internet quota. This means that outside of the 1 hour daily, you’ll have at least 2 GBs a week to use, depending on the Pass you choose.
And if that’s not enough…
7. Don’t worry about using up all your data
All the passes come with unlimited basic Internet (at 64kbps) with the same validity period as your Ultra Pass™, so you will never be left high and dry without data. That might not be enough to stream smoothly, but it will at least let you send emails or messages and browse social media.
8. And who should actually use this
We’re not going to pretend that there’s only one type of mobile phone plan or package that’s perfect for everyone, but we can think of several ways an Ultra Pass™ with one hour of unlimited internet daily could come in handy.
Anyone with a long commute would definitely appreciate having free unlimited internet when streaming shows, music or podcasts while on the go.
Students who want to study in an area with limited WiFi access? They’d still be able to access their lecture notes and videos easily even on their laptops, thanks to being able to hotspot.
