Ride-hailing giant Grab shook the fintech scene when it first announced its GrabPay Card as part of its ongoing partnership with Mastercard.
Touted to be Asia’s first numberless card, it promises to offer cashless convenience to its regional users with “card security, … expanded rewards system and hassle-free Grab payments integration”.
Users — regardless of whether they have a bank account — will be able to use it at nearly 53 million merchants worldwide that accept Mastercard cards.
The GrabPay card also offers additional perks like mobile protection insurance (for those who pay their monthly phone bills with GrabPay Card) and GrabRewards points for every dollar spent.
According to Grab, users will also “receive better exchange rates than any bank” if they make a purchase overseas with the GrabPay Card.
Free Early Access To GrabPay Card
Today, Grab notified its users that they can activate their digital GrabPay Card for free.
Users can activate it via the Grab app, and register their interest for the physical card.
The activation process requires a one-time verification to retrieve user’s basic information like identity and contact details. Users can opt between two options: log in with SingPass, or fill in a form manually.
Those who activate their cards before 31 January 2020 will enjoy fee waiver.
